Robert C. Hill, 87, of South Buffalo Township passed away at 5:45 p.m. Friday while in the company of family members at VA Butler Healthcare in Butler Township.

Robert was born in South Buffalo Township, June 14, 1922, the son of the late Ralph A. and Blanche (Beaumont) Hill.

Bob was a lifetime member of the Freeport United Presbyterian Church, Freeport.

He served in the U.S. Army as a private first class in World War II. Bob was a truck driver in the 88th Infantry. He had tours in the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters of operations.

After his service to his country, Mr. Hill worked as a researcher at Gulf Research & Development, Harmarville, for 37 years, retiring in 1982

Bob was a member of the South Buffalo, Armstrong County and National Grange, the F&AM Lodge 239, the New Castle Consistory, Freeport Odd Fellows 379, the Freeport VFW, the American Legion, the South Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department, and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Bob was instrumental in the creation of the North and South Buffalo Little League. He was very active in South Buffalo Township, and he enjoyed hunting and driving in the country.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Fay L. (Fiscus) Hill; his daughter, Alma F. (Harry) Johnson of Cabot; and two sons, Eugene (Janie Dickey) Hill of Willowick, Ohio, and Eric B. Hill of New York, N.Y.; Robert also is survived by his brother, Warren Hill of Saxonburg; two grandchildren, Candy Sue (Frank) Huck of Pittsburgh and Robin Johnson of Cabot; and two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Maxwell Huck.

Bob was preceded in death by his two brothers, Ralph and Joseph Hill; and his sister, Margaret Brothers.

<B>HILL</B> — Family and friends of Robert C. Hill, who died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, are being received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the <B>Redmond Funeral Home</B>, 524 High St., Freeport. A Masonic service will be held at 6:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Freeport United Presbyterian Church, Freeport, with the Rev. Paige Creach officiating.
