Robert G. McHattie

Robert G. "Bob" McHattie, 83, of Butler died unexpectedly Wednesday morning at his home.

Born Feb. 10, 1922, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Earl and Edna Gosly McHattie.

He was a Protestant.

Mr. McHattie retired from Local 66 of the Operating Engineers Union.

He restored antique automobiles and enjoyed going to antique car shows and swap meets.

He was an Army veteran and enjoyed attending the annual reunions of the 120 Infantry Regiment, 130th Division of the Army. He was a life member of the Butler VFW Post 249.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Butler Dickson McHattie, whom he married Dec. 29, 1978; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sandra McHattie of Butler; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and John Kovacic of Butler; three stepsons and their wives, David and Anna Dickson, Richard and Marlene Dickson and Randall and Susan Dickson, all of Butler; two stepdaughters and their husbands, John and Darlene Gerberich of Butler and Eugene and Susan Pritts of Rochester, Ind.

He also is survived by 19 grandchildren and their spouses, Thomas and Tammy Mysliwiec of Butler, Craig and Rhonda McHattie of Slippery Rock, Shane and Rowena of Portersville, David and Jessica Dickson of Greensburg, Derek, Daniel, Ryan, Richie, Rebecca and Melynn Dickson, all of Butler, David and Christina Pankratz of Franklin, Jeffrey and Kelly Bergeson of North Quincey, Mass., Kathryn Gerberich and Kimberly Rapé, both of Butler, Michael Rapé of Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, Amy Rapé of Rochester, Ind., Daniel Rapé of Slippery Rock, Matthew Pritts of Indiana and Bethany Pritts of Butler; and 11 great-grandchildren, Tori, Evan, Zachery, Breanna, Hallie, Gavin, Tessa, Corey, Kristina, Deven and Emma.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Louise Shidemantle McHattie, who died June 7, 1974; a twin brother; a stepbrother; a sister; and a great-grandson.

McHATTIE — Friends of Robert G. "Bob" McHattie, who died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the EDWARD L RAISLEY FUNERAL HOME, 387 Main St., Prospect. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev Ted Harris, pastor of the Community Alliance Church of Butler; and his grandson, the Rev David Dickson, pastor of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Greensburg, officiating.Graveside services will follow at the Portersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Butler VFW Post 249 and the Lyndora American Legion Post 778 providing military honors.For more information go towww.raisleyfuneralhome.com.
