Delphine Delaney

Delphine Delaney

Delphine “Del” Delaney, 87, of Worthington, formerly of Karns City, died peacefully at 12:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Sugar Creek-Meadow Lake Manor following a brief illness.

She was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Kaylor, graduated from FTKC high school, moved to Criswell in 1971, then to the Armstrong Retirement Village (near Sugar Creek Rest) in 2010. She was a proud wife and mother — the matriarch of a six-decade long marriage.

Delphine was known in many circles for her kindness, compassion, wisdom, crafting ability, calligraphy and especially her tenacious ability to send cards to every person in her life that she came to love.

She was the beloved wife of the late Leslie “Les” Delaney, whom she married on Oct. 20, 1952. She is survived by three children, Kathy King (Mike) of Butler, Bob Delaney of Pittsburgh and Bryan Delaney of Zelienople; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, James Delaney (Eleanor) of Fredricksburg; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her late husband, Delphine was preceded in death by her mother and father, Hattie and Robert Pettigrew; brothers, Albert, Derwood and Eugene; sisters, Margaret (Peg) and Maisy; and grandson, Michael King Jr.

To honor her passion for sending cards, the family asks that you please consider sending a greeting card to someone you have not connected with in a long time.
