One flown to hospital following Kittanning Street crash
BUTLER TWP — One person was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital with an ankle injury after a head-on collision at the intersection of Kittanning Street and Portman Road in Butler Wednesday afternoon.
A Chevy pickup truck and Nissan Altima both emerged from the 1:30 p.m. crash with severe front end damage.
According to Scott Frederick, director of emergency services in Butler Township, a male driver was taken from the scene to Butler Memorial Hospital and transported by air to Pittsburgh for a compound ankle fracture. The other driver was uninjured.
Kittanning Road was closed in both directions as vehicles were towed from the scene. The road was reopened in under an hour.
Butler Ambulance Service, Butler City Bureau of Fire, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District and Butler Township Police all responded to the scene.
