Shirley Vasbinder
Shirley A. Vasbinder, 73, of Mifflintown, Juniata County, formerly of Roebling, N.J., died at 4 a.m. Saturday at her home.
Born Sept. 14, 1937, in Rimersburg, Clarion County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence J. and Emma H. (Kohler) Eck.
Her husband, Alton C. Vasbinder, who she married Dec. 31, 1956, preceded her in death on Jan. 12, 1999.
Surviving are her children, Holli Weller (Gary) of Delanco, N.J., Heidi Yansick, Jodi Vasbinder (Tony) and Clay Vasbinder, all of Mifflintown, and Scott Vasbinder (Linda) of Hamilton Square, N.J.; and two sisters, Gaye Curdo of Port Royal, Juniata County, and Linda Crisp of Lumberton, N.J. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Brian, Heather, Paige, Brooke and Erica.
One daughter, Gaye Emily Vasbinder and a dear friend, Patricia DiPaola, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Vasbinder was a 1955 graduate of East Brady High School, after which she served as a certified nursing assistant at the Rancocas Valley Hospital for 25 years.
Shirley was a very active member of the St. Jude Catholic Church, Mifflintown, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild, and she also was a member of the Red Hat Society.
A loving grandmother, who doted on her grandchildren, Shirley loved to read and enjoyed cooking and baking as well as watching humming birds.
<B>VASBINDER</B> — A Mass of Christian burial for Shirley A. Vasbinder, who died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Thursday at the St. Jude Catholic Church, Mifflintown, with Father William Weary celebrating. Interment will be in the St. Eusebius Cemetery, Rimersburg.
