Murel E. Burrows, 96, of Butler passed away Saturday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born March 28, 1914, in California, he was the son of Roland A. and Emma Gould Burrows.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe, where he was a prisoner of war.

He worked as a shift foreman for Penn Dixie Cement, retiring in 1978 after 41 years.

He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, the Light of Zion Sunday School Class and the Acacia Club of Butler.

He enjoyed traveling.

Surviving are three daughters, Patricia (Donald) Bicker of Sarver, Dolores Burrows of Worthington and Deanie (Chuck) Vasbinder of Butler; three sons, Murel W. "Sonny" Burrows of Sarver, Paul (Janet) Burrows of Cabot and Robert John Burrows of Butler; 12 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie (Sasse) Burrows, on Sept. 16, 1998; and a great-granddaughter, Cierra Burrows.

<B>BURROWS </B>— Friends of Murel E. Burrows, who died Saturday, July 10, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, Saxonburg. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Howard Greenfield officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Coylesville.Information also is available at www.foxfuneralhomeinc.com.
