Gary L. Mekic

Gary L. Mekic, 52, of East Brady died Saturday at his home.

Born May 17, 1953, in Latrobe, he was the son of Raymond Mekic and the late Anna M. Pawlosky Mekic.

He loved his work as a carpenter and was a carpenter at Capello Custom Construction in Slippery Rock for 25 years. He built a home for his mother at the age of 13. He was exceptional and his work was respected and appreciated.

Mr. Mekic was a Greek Catholic. He enjoyed NASCAR racing.

He had many experiences in his lifetime and enjoyed them all. He had many friends along his journey and left an unforgettable impression on everyone. Most of all, he was very loving and caring to his family, Pam, Matt and Shelley, who miss him very much and always will.

Surviving are his companion of 25 years, Pamela M. Steiner of East Brady; her children, Matt Steiner and his wife, Evelyn, of Chicora and Shelley Vasbinder and her husband, David, of Mars; his father of Blairsville; and a sister, Judith Ann Cerimele of Youngstown, Ohio.

Two brothers preceded him in death.

MEKIC - A memorial service for Gary L. Mekic, who died Saturday, July 23, 2005, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at BUECHELE FUNERAL HOME, 105 Fourth St., East Brady. The Rev. William Kuba, pastor of St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church of East Brady, will officiate.
