Hulihan Jr.

Albert Clarence "Tuck"Hulihan Jr., 75, of Slippery Rock died at 4:21 p.m. Monday at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hospice Wing following a nine-month illness.

Born in Slippery Rock, Jan. 22, 1933, he was the son of Albert Clarence Hulihan Sr. and Pauline Ferree Hulihan.

He was a 1951 graduate of the Slippery Rock Normal School, and he retired from Pullman Standard, where he had been a welder for railroad car construction. He also had served the Slippery Rock and other nearby communities as a painter.

Mr. Hulihan was a Protestant.

He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War.

He loved fishing, was a Civil War research enthusiast and enjoyed going to flea markets on weekends. He was a Pittsburgh sports enthusiast and an ardent supporter of the Penguins, Pirates, Steelers and Pitt.

Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Ann Hulihan of Franklin and Elizabeth Jayne Rodgers of Slippery Rock; a sister, Mary Jane "Skeet" Brandon of Slippery Rock; and a brother, David Hulihan of Pymatuning. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jamie Waughtel and Mike Landis of Lititz, Pa., Jason Callahan and his fiancée, Honey Walsh, of Slippery Rock, Kayla Rodgers of San Diego, Calif., and Patrick Rodgers Jr. and Joseph Aloisio, both of Slippery Rock; and three great-grandchildren, Jaden and Jordyn Waughtel of Lititz and Jessica Callahan of Slippery Rock.

His wife, Shirley Lou Rohr Hulihan, whom he married Sept. 29, 1960, died Nov. 6, 2005. He also was preceded in death by a son, Don Callahan; a daughter, Janis Callahan; and two sisters, Paddy Hulihan and Sally Sub.

<B>HULIHAN </B>— Friends of Albert Clarence "Tuck"Hulihan Jr., who died Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Walter Hehman, a retired pastor of Grove City, officiating. Interment will be at the Slippery Rock Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the Civil War Preservation Trust, Membership Center, 11 Public Square, Suite 200, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
