Butler Police10 a.m. Wednesday — Police took custody of Justin E. Freyermouth, 25, who has no known address, from the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, which had Freyermouth in custody on two outstanding warrants. Police said Freyermouth was arraigned before District Judge Pete Shaffer and placed in Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.1:31 p.m. Tuesday — Police said Lisa M. Philbrook was charged with criminal trespass and defiant trespass after police responded to a call at 325 W. Jefferson St., where a complainant reported that Philbrook had previously been served with a trespass notice and was refusing to leave the property. Police said they found Philbrook “irate and disorderly” at the property.6:47 p.m. Sept. 16 — Police said William F. Manganaro, 85, of Penn Township was driving west on East Brady Street and crossing the intersection with North McKean Street when his vehicle hit Maria E. Maines, 74, of Butler, who was on the road in a wheelchair. Police said the collision caused Maines to fall out of her wheelchair and onto the road, and she was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with injuries of unknown severity. Police said a witness told officers that Manganaro had sun in his eyes at the time of the collision, which was confirmed through an investigation. No charges have been filed.4:04 p.m. Sept. 16 — Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident on Virginia Avenue in which a black SUV with a blonde female driver hit a Ford Explorer parked on the road and fled the scene of the accident.3:18 p.m. Sept. 14 — Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident in the 300 block of West Cunningham Street in which a victim reported that her parked vehicle’s driver’s side mirror was damaged.
Butler Twp Police3:14 p.m. Monday — Police charged Michelle L. Fortini, 36, of Butler, with retail theft after she failed to pay for $211 worth of merchandise from the Butler Walmart and attempted to leave the store.
Grove City Police5 p.m. Monday — Police responded to reports of BB shots fired in the 100 block of West Poplar Street. Officers searched but could not find the pellet gunman. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.Monday — An unknown thief overnight stole about $19 from a woman’s unlocked vehicle in the 300 block of Harvard Street. The theft happened sometime overnight.Monday — About $30 in loose change was taken overnight from a man’s unlocked vehicle in the 500 block of Madison Avenue.11:59 p.m. Saturday — A white man pilfered two cartons of cigarettes from the Marathon gas station on West Main Street. The unknown suspect is described as being in his mid-40s, about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and 210 pounds.Anyone with information is asked to call police.11:30 a.m. Saturday — A rechargeable phone was found on the road near Kinder and College avenues. The owner can claim the phone at the police station at 337 E. Pine St.12:54 a.m. Saturday — Cynthia Gilmore, 53, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at West Main Street and Memorial Park Drive at a DUI checkpoint.Only several minutes later, Anthony Ruffo, 23, of Grove City was arrested at 1:10 a.m. for suspicion of DUI at the same checkpoint.9:25 p.m. Friday — Jody Ahern, 47, of Grove City was hurt when the motorcycle she was driving veered off the road and hit the front porch of a home in the 400 block of Summit Street. She suffered minor injuries and the property sustained unspecified damage.Police said Ahern was cited for careless driving.Sept. 15 — Police recovered a new bicycle from Howe’s Coffee shop on West Main Street. The bicycle was reportedly left there around Labor Day. The owner can claim it at the police station.Sept. 14 — A black book bag containing a wallet, car keys and a debit card was stolen between noon and 12:50 p.m. from Grove City College. Anyone with information is asked to call police.Sept. 11 — An unknown thief stole 19 silver dollars from a home in the 600 block of South Center Street.
State Police, ButlerMonday — Trisha M. Potter, 46, of Sligo, Clarion County, was arrested on charges she allegedly passed a forged prescription in 2012 at the Petrolia Pharmacy on Church Street in Petrolia. Police said the pharmacist denied the bogus prescription for the painkiller Vicodin.Potter later admitted that she was “addicted to pain medication and attempted to pass the forged and altered prescription,” according to court documents.She was arraigned on a felony charge of attempting to fraudulently acquire a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of forgery. She is free on her own recognizance.Monday — Police charged Carrie L. Reid, 38, of Butler with stealing a woman’s cell phone in July at the Clearview Mall in Center Township. Reid is accused of taking the 53-year-old Butler woman’s phone July 8 and later selling it. She is charged with theft.Friday — Denny J. Winner Jr., 21, was arrested in the alleged theft of a long gun from an Allegheny Township home where he had been recently living. Winner is accused of taking the Remington 760 rifle between Sept. 13 and 17 from Samuel Sheppick’s home on Maple Furnace Road.Police later found the defendant in a pickup truck behind a local church, court documents said. The reported stolen rifle was under the back seat.Winner admitted taking the gun” a couple of days ago” but claimed that he was “only borrowing” it, documents said. Sheppick told police that he never gave the suspect permission to take the rifle.Winner was arraigned on felony charges of theft and receiving stolen property, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.State Police, FranklinMonday — Police charged Christopher R. Layman Jr., 40, with tattooing a 14-year-old girl, without her parent’s permission, at his home on Georgetown Road in Irwin Township.Layman is charged with tattooing a minor and corruption of a minor, both misdemeanors.
State Police, Kittanning3:30 p.m. Sept. 19 — Police say an 18-carat yellow gold, seven-diamond ring and $300 in cash were stolen from a home on Butler Road in West Franklin Township. Police said the items were stolen from a safe in the closet of the home’s master bedroom. Anyone with information should contact the state police at 724-543-2011.
State Police, MercerMonday — Richard E. Alwine, 42, of Butler was charged with threatening a 47-year-old Grove City woman Sept. 4 at her Maple Terrace home in Pine Township, Mercer County. Police said the suspect also sent the woman numerous text messages over a short time period.Alwine is charged with terroristic threats and harassment.
State Police, PunxsutawneyMonday — The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited Saga Hibachi Steak House on Route 19 in Cranberry Township for selling alcohol without a license between July 1 and 3 and July 6 and 12. An administrative law judge will hear the case.
