Richard G. Ritenour
Richard Glenn Ritenour, 74, of Butler died early Tuesday morning at his home.
He was born in North Washington on Oct. 11, 1934, son of the late Oliver and Pauline Jack Ritenour.
In 1968, he founded the Custom Lawn Care Co. in Butler and continued to work daily in the business with his sons. Before that, he had been a lead lineman for the West Penn Power Co. for more than 20 years.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, having been a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, working as a parachute rigger.
He was a member of the Masonic Victory Lodge 694 in Butler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen L. Phillips Ritenour, who died Oct. 15, 1998, and by two sisters, Maxine and Audrey.
Surviving are two sons, Rick Ritenour and his wife, Renee, and Robb E. Ritenour and his wife, Tracey, of Butler; one daughter, Roni Sue Ritenour; 11 grandchildren, Travis, Troy, Michael, Shelby, Derek, Taylor, Austin, Rachel, Ryan, Remy and Christine; a sister, Doris Lanzano of Maryland; one nephew, Mark Warner; two nieces, Rebecca Warner and Gale Eason; and Barbara Ritenour Merchant.
<B>RITENOUR</B> — Friends of Richard Glenn Ritenour, who died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Reformed Church, 493 Evans City Road, Butler. The Rev. Dr. Robert Peterson, pastor, will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Butler County Memorial Park cemetery, Butler.Officers and members of Victory Lodge 694 will conduct a Masonic funeral service at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.The family requests that memorial donations could be made to the V.N.A. Hospice Service Inpatient Unit Building Fund.
