Fred F. Collins
Fred F. Collins, 67, of Chicora passed away unexpectedly Saturday at his home.
Born Oct. 14, 1947, in Herman, he was a son of Violetta E. (Michel) Collins and the late Merl V. Collins.
Fred had worked for American Hardware/Service Star for 28 years. He then worked in maintenance for the Moniteau School District, retiring in 2013.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and target shooting. He was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, the NRA, the Judicial Watch and was a life member of the North American Hunters Club. He regularly donated to the Wounded Warrior Program and also to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Carol A. (Steighner) Collins, who he married Nov. 2, 1968; his children, Jeannette (Randy) Timblin of West Sunbury, Russell (Holly) Collins of Karns City, Stephen (Bridgette) Collins of Boyers and Rhonda (Matt) Williams of Boyers; his mother, Violetta Collins; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Lindsey (Chris) Smith and their son, Carter, and they are also expecting another child soon, Brandon (Amanda) Timblin and their daughter, Ava; Zachary Timblin, Courtney Collins, Kayla Collins, Karley Collins, Rosemary Collins, Anthony Collins, Madison Collins, Tanner Williams and Adelyn Williams; and two brothers, Ted (Janet) Collins and Roger (Juanita) Collins, all of Butler.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Collins, and his sister, Lucille Korbe.
COLLINS — Friends of Fred F. Collins, who died Saturday, June 6, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Matt McClaine, pastor, will officiate.Donations are recommended to be made to either of Fred's favorites, the Wounded Warrior Program or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
