Penelope Y. Cooper

Cooper

Penelope Yvette Duryea Cooper, 70, a beloved mother and friend, passed away Sunday. She was a resident of Harrisville.

Penny was born into a large French-American family, a daughter of the late Walter F. and Yvette (Grant) Duryea.

Penelope had relatives all throughout the United States and Canada, with uncles, aunts and cousins living in Quebec, New York, Erie and New Orleans. She would recall the days when all the family would gather at her grandfather's house and there would be singing and dancing all day and night long.

Being from a large family, she would bring all the family together for holidays and special occasions for dinner, music, laughter and fun. Penny's family will miss her cooking, her wit, her stories and how she inspired us to love life and each other.

She treasured life, her children and especially her grandchildren. She also loved nature and enjoyed planting and gardening in her leisure time.

Penny's professional career included working with various social agencies as a therapist and counselor. She served as vice president of ASA International, a foreign student exchange organization.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Cooper; her first husband, Robert M.A.L. Miller; a brother, Edward Duryea; and a close friend and companion, John Malarik.

She leaves her children and grandchildren: Grant Miller and his wife, Annalyn, and their children, Dillon and Zoe, of Beaver; Scott Miller and his wife, Angela, and their son, Caleb, of Washington, D.C.; Todd Miller of Philipsburg; Ann (Cooper) Stockert and her husband, Jeffrey, and their sons, Nicholas and Joshua of Butler; and Lisa (Cooper) Dudney and her husband, David, of Greensburg.
