Ethel Louise Bowman Andre

Ethel Louise Bowman Andre, 94, of Americus, Ga., formerly of Butler, passed away on Tuesday at the Magnolia Nursing Home.

She was born July 19, 1917, in Butler, to the late Edward Thomas and Estella Susan Bowen Bowman.

Mrs. Andre was a retired bookkeeper for Milo Williams Jewelry Store. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a past president of the Methodist Women and served on the administrative board and was a member of the Quilter's Group of the First United Methodist Church.

She was involved in the Girl Scouts as a troop leader and was on the Keystone Tall Trees Board for many years. She was a past member of the Business and Professional Women and the American Association of University Women and a past member of the Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she served as the awards chairman for many years. Mrs. Andre was a graduate of Muskingum College with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration.

Mrs. Andre is survived by one daughter, Janis Bird and her husband, William, of Americus, Ga.; one son, Richard T. Andre of Fort Wayne, Ind.; five grandchildren, Kristen and her husband, Kent Richardson, Scott and his wife, Katie Andre, Steve Andre, Jonathan Bird and Beth Bird; two nieces; and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Andre, who she married on Nov. 2, 1945; one sister, Betty Bowman White; and one brother, Bob Bowman.

<B>ANDRE</B> — Friends of Ethel Louise Bowman Andre, who passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, with the Rev. Dr. J. David Panther and the Rev. Tom Holman officiating.The burial will take place in the North Side Cemetery.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army National Headquarters, 615 Slaters Lane, P.O.
