• Ended the agreement between the Butler School District and the city concerning tax collection. The city had collected school taxes since December 2002.

• Approved payment to Ken Reilly Contracting for two building demolitions, $7,200 for 226 Franklin St. and $7,400 for 522 W. New Castle St., pending approval from the city code enforcement officer.

• Approved a block party from 2 p.m. until dark on Aug. 13 on the 200 block of West Fulton Street.

• Authorized the city treasurer to refund $200 to the Loyal Order of Moose, Butler 64, due to changes in the amusement devices ordinance fees approved in May.

• Reappointed Michael Preston, Kent Bowen and Robert Dandoy to the city zoning hearing board for three-year terms each, ending June 30, 2014.

• Approved payment of $22 for the city’s share in the cost of the Butler Area Multi Municipal Plan website.

• Awarded a $9,958 contract to Bauer Excavating for storm sewer repair on WISR Way.

• Adopted the Butler County Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan coordinates municipalities in the event of a large scale disaster and brings the city into compliance with state hazard mitigation protocols.

• Decided to have Mayor Maggie Stock sign an agreement between the city and PennDOT for alley paving.

• Appointed Dirk Matanok and Jonathon Lex to the Shade Tree Commission, replacing Joan Chew and Van Peterson.

• Accepted a bid from the Butler Council of Governements to provide road salt for the 2011-2012 winter after the minimum amount has been bought through the state COSTARS contract. The state minimum purchase is 1,800 tons of salt at $64.37 per ton, after which the city could buy up to 1,200 tons through the Butler COG at $60.66 per ton.
