Veva Irene Herold Martsolf
Veva Irene Herold Martsolf, 80, of Butler, peacefully entered the gates of Heaven early Saturday morning at her residence following a brief illness. She will be remembered for her renowned love for the Lord.
Born Dec. 10, 1937, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Irene Sackett Herold, Sr.
She was a faithful, long-time member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Prospect, where she lived out her faith in love and grace. She was the former assistant missionary treasurer, taught Sunday school, taught Bible school, attended Bible studies, and enjoyed helping with church funeral luncheons.
Veva enjoyed baking and selling special occasion cakes, driving bus for the Portersville Christian School in the 1970s, and working for the U.S. Postal Service. She began her career in Prospect, worked in New Castle, and then retired from the Butler post office as a window clerk.
She lived life by her faith day by day, enjoyed her family and friends, and loved helping to organize family reunions. She enjoyed researching and writing books on her family genealogy and local history.
She is survived by her children, Tami (James Todd) Eck of Evans City, James H. (Pamela) Martsolf of Washington; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Carol Eury of Harrisville, John Herold of North Carolina, Velma Lunger of Sunbury, Walt Kummer of Kennerdale and Diane Smith of Portersville; and her loving sister-in-law, Betty Herold of Prospect.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Martsolf, whom she married Dec. 31, 1955, and who passed away Jan. 16, 2013; her infant daughter, Debra Ann Martsolf; and her brothers Clarence Herold Jr., Tom Herold and Roy Herold.
MARTSOLF — Friends of Veva Martsolf, who died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Edward L.
