Robert J. Novak Sr.
Robert Joseph "Bob" Novak Sr., 70, died Aug. 10 at his home in Lake Vallecito, Colo.
Born July 13, 1935, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Joseph and Willa Novak.
He grew up in Pittsburgh, worked in steel mills for most of his life and served his country as a reservist in the Marines.
Mr. Novak was a licensed gunsmith and crafted many beautiful guns for friend and family.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Amateur Trap Shooters Association and the Pennsylvania State Shoot Hall of Fame. He was an avid hunter; and in retirement, he enjoyed horse wrangling and guiding personal hunts.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Sandy Novak, whom he married Oct. 19, 2001, in Durango, Colo.; a sister, Joanne Wiernik of Pittsburgh; a brother, William Novak of Pittsburgh; sons Robert J. Novak Jr. of Portersville, Kenneth C. Novak of Cranberry, Township, Kurt W. Novak of Evans City and Christopher J. Novak of West Sunbury; daughters Ginette M. Novak of Mars, Doris J. Novak of Cranberry Township and Elaine L. Wright of New Brighton; two stepdaughters, Kimberly Pettner of Freedom and Valerie Caminiti of Mosley, Va.; a stepson, Eric Eifler of Bristow, Va.; 25 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheryl Lewetag.
