Martha J. Striker
Martha J. “Jane” Striker, 84, of Chicora passed away Wednesday while in the company of family members at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Jane was born May 11, 1931, in Natrona Heights, a daughter of the late Marie (Beebe) and Harry U. McLaughlin.
She was a member of the Zion Church of Karns City. Jane had a big and generous heart, who always put her family first. She would offer you the shirt off her back and then ask if you needed her shoes, too. Jane always worked alongside her husband in all their endeavors, which included years of antique flea marketing at Hazen and was supportive in everything they did.
She enjoyed plastic needlework and crafting, reading and working on puzzle books. She was an avid baker and cook. She especially loved making her homemade buns.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard A. Striker; her son, Richard L. “Rick” (Christine) Striker of Natrona Heights; her daughter, Kathy (Stephen) Palla of Chicora; three grandchildren, Hallie (Jason) Lindal, Jason R. (Nicole) Striker and Jessica Striker; four great-grandchildren, Janie, who was named after her great-grandmother, and Rori Lindal, Caden Kelley and Julia Striker.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Edgar McLaughlin, and sisters, Bernice Kelly, Joy Laube and Florence Johnston.
STRIKER — The family and friends of Martha J. “Jane” Striker, who died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Redmond Funeral Home, 524 High St., Freeport.Visitation will continue at 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joe Olkowski, pastor, officiating.
