KC students awarded at academic games
U.S. history knowledge of presidents put to test
Students of Karns City Area School District brought home an array of awards from the Academic Games League of America’s National Tournament in Knoxville, Tenn., last month, with one placing first in the nation.
A parade of firetrucks and sign-holding community members greeted the victorious scholars as they arrived home April 26.
Terry MacKrell, gifted coordinator for the district, said 17 students in fourth through 12th grades competed in games revolving around U.S. presidents, propaganda and the theme of the Gilded Age.
