Jack B. Sopher
Jack B. Sopher, 80, a resident of Taylorsville, N.C., since 1995, died Sunday at the Frye Hospital, Hickory, N.C. He formerly lived in Bethlehem, N.C., and California.
Born Aug. 11, 1927, in Grove City, he was the son of Willard C. Sopher and Erla C. Surrena Sopher-Ingram.
He was a 1945 graduate of Wesley High School in Irwin Township, Venango County, and he was an Army veteran.
Mr. Sopher retired in 1989 as a machinist at Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo, Calif.
He had attended the Grace Baptist Church of Bethlehem, N.C., since 1995 and was a member of the Church of God in Nectarine, Venango County.
Surviving are his wife, Dessie M. Fix Sopher, whom he married March 26, 1953; two sons, Gerald E. Sopher of Marion, Ill., and Ronald D. Sopher of Bethlehem, N.C.; two granddaughters; a sister, Mrs. Donald (Shirley R.) Klingensmith of Conover, N.C.; and a brother, William E. Sopher of Los Angeles, Calif.
<B>SOPHER</B> — Friends of Jack B. Sopher, who died Sunday, March 9, 2008, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the <B>Jamison Funeral Home</B>, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Marcus Benfield, pastor of the Grace Baptist Church, Bethlehem, N.C., officiating. Burial will be at the Mount Irwin Cemetery, Irwin Township, Venango County.
