Janet Sopher Eckstein
Janet Sopher Eckstein, 75, of Flagler Beach, Fla. died Sunday at Florida Hospital-Flagler after a long illness.
Born July 15, 1931, in Butler County, she was the daughter of Gerald and Dorothy Gerlach Sopher.
Mrs. Eckstein was reared in the Pittsburgh area and graduated from South Hills High School and the University of Pittsburgh, where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity.
She was office manager for her husband's dental practice for 25 years.
Mrs. Eckstein served as deacon and elder at both the First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown and the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Palm Coast, Fla.
She was an avid reader, liked crossword puzzles and loved traveling, hiking and biking. She enjoyed nature and ecology and volunteered for a Whale Watch organization and at the St. Augustine Light House.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dr. W. Paul Eckstein; her children, Donna Dallatore of Valencia, Susan Morrison of Charleston, S.C., Karla Schwadron of Valencia and Dr. Paul F. Eckstein of North Reddington, Fla.; her sisters, Marjorie Bean of Palm Coast, Fla., and Carol Gray of Pittsburgh; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
