Joseph Richard Pawlowicz, 65, passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord on Friday in Winston-Salem, N.C.

He was born on March 10, 1947, in Butler, the beloved son of Leon Pawlowicz and Mary Ragan Pawlowicz.

Joe was raised in Butler and moved to the Felton, Pa., area in 1975. He retired to Pilot Mountain, N.C., in January 2011.

He attended Penn State University and graduated with his degree in engineering. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and could always be found fixing his and others' cars. Above all he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

He will be lovingly remembered by his best friend and wife of 44 years, Betty Pawlowicz, who he met while serving in the U.S. Air Force; dear daughter, Sheila Gibson and her husband, Mike; and his precious grandchildren, Michael “Dylan,” Summer Hope and Presley Nicole Gibson. Joe also will be missed deeply by his sister, Rosemary Pawlowicz, and his brother, Thomas A. Pawlowicz, and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, L. Edward Pawlowicz.

<B>PAWLOWICZ</B> — The family of Joseph Richard Pawlowicz, who passed away Friday, April 20, 2012, will receive friends and family from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at <B>Mitchell Funeral Home</B>, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, N.C. The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Mary's Chapel at the Community of St. Francis of Assisi, 11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh, N.C.
