Paul M. Kelly Jr.
Paul M. Kelly Jr., 81, of Punta Gorda, Fla., formerly of Erie, died Tuesday at Saint Mary's at Asbury Ridge.
He was born in Butler on Sept. 6, 1932, the son of the late Paul M. and Barbara Hindman Kelly of West Sunbury.
He was a 1951 graduate of West Sunbury High School and a 1956 graduate of Grove City College with a degree in electrical engineering. He subsequently completed engineering and marketing graduate certificate programs at MIT and the Harvard Business School in Boston.
He was employed at Magnetics Inc. in Butler, and Erie Technological Products and AMSCO in Erie, where he retired after 25 years of service in various management positions. He continued to work in the life science field for another 10 years as an engineering and marketing consultant.
He was a member of the AMSCO Quarter Century Club, a life member of the Erie Maennerchor Club, the Sons of the American Revolution, and a past member of a number of national life science professional organizations. He enjoyed the study of American history, family genealogy, music, boating and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John D. Kelly of Beaver, and his sister, Eileen Kelly Blair and her husband, William P. Blair, of Derry, Pa.
A devoted husband, father and family man, he is survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Campbell Kelly; his daughter, Karen Kelly Schmitt and her husband, John, of Erie; his three sons, Daniel B. Kelly and his fiancee, Kris, of Erie, David P. Kelly and his wife, Cynthia, of Erie, and Douglas P. Kelly and his wife, Susan, of Cranberry, and 11 grandchildren, Susann, Kellie and Jenna Schmitt of Erie, Sean and his fiancee, Emily, Alena, and Ann Marie Kelly of Shaker Heights, Caleb, Aaron and Dillon Kelly of Erie, and Regan and Ryan Kelly of Cranberry.
He also is survived by his brother, Kenneth G. Kelly and his wife, Sandra, of Butler; his sister-in-law, Beverly R. Kelly of Beaver, and a number of nieces and nephews.
