Donald R. Parton

Donald Richard Parton, 76, of Ralston Road in Slippery Rock Township, formerly of the Pitcairn in Allegheny County, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday at home.

Born in South Wilmerding, Allegheny County, June 23, 1930, he was the son of Frank Parton and Fannie Mae Whiteman.

He retired from Westinghouse Air Brake in Wilmerding in 1990.

Mr. Parton was a Protestant. He was a former member of the East Pittsburgh Moose. He was an avid reader.

Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Reddick Parton, whom he married Sept. 29, 1979; three stepsons, Michael E. Bencic and his wife, Laura, of Slippery Rock, Gary D. Bencic and his wife, Mary Jane, of Homer City and James H. Bencic of Clairton; a stepdaughter, Linda K. Ardine of Grove City, and a sister, Dorothy Mae Shaffer of Monroeville.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Rosemary and Lauren Ardine and Carrie, Jessica, Rachel, Sarah and Meghan Bencic; two step-great-grandchildren, Richie and Maxwell Bencic, and a number of nieces and nephews.

<B>PARTON </B>— Friends of Donald Richard Parton, who died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Albert Rhodes Stuart, pastor of the Highland Presbyterian Church of Slippery Rock, officiating. Burial will be at Restland Memorial Park, Monroeville.
