James Melton “Jim” Underwood

James Melton “Jim” Underwood, 85, of Middle Lancaster Township, passed away Saturday at his home.

Born March 20, 1933, in Marlinton, W.Va., he was the son of the late Kenny Underwood and Duffy Pyles Moore Underwood.

Jim was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Connoquenessing. He was a member of the Harmony Moose, the Sheffield Sportsmans Club, the Veterans Club of Evans City and the VFW of Evans City. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Above all, he was a beloved father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Robin (Terry) Batykefer of Butler and Debbie (Dave) Schuster of Marion, Ohio; his stepchildren, Roger Williams of Miami, Fla., and Georgetta Lukehart of Lower Burrell; his brothers, Gene and Joy; his sister, Wanda; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and his constant companion, Delores Herritt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Underwood, who died in 2001; and numerous brothers and sisters.

UNDERWOOD — Friends of James Melton “Jim” Underwood, who died Saturday, May 5, 2018, will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.boylanfuneralservices.com.
