Art center's holiday show, sale opens

A Holiday Art Show and Sale will open Saturday at the Butler Art Center, 344 S. Main St., with a reception featuring music and a chance to meet the artists involved.

According to Shirley McCauley, a board member at the art center, the show will feature works of art in woodworking, origami, painting, jewelry and more.

“It's going to be a great time; there's lots of beautiful art,” McCauley said.

The show opens along with the gallery on Saturday at noon, and the public is invited to an opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m. the same day. McCauley said Tom Wotus will provide music, and people can come meet the artists, look around and enjoy the evening free of charge.

A total of 14 local artists will be featured at the show, and McCauley said some of them can be recognized from the Artisan and Vendors market the Art Center had on Small Business Saturday.

“They started bringing in pieces this week, and some artists from the market said they wanted to participate in this show as well,” McCauley said.

The art center is holding this event so that community members can “give the gift of art” this holiday season.
