Richard Vensel Jr.
Richard Ross Vensel Jr., 54, of Carlisle passed away Saturday at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 14, 1960, in Butler, he was the son of Roberta (Campbell) Vensel of Chicora and the late Richard R. Vensel Sr.
Rick was currently employed by South Middleton School District, where he worked as the business and operations manager.He was currently working on his 29th school building project and had tallied 33 years as a school business administrator. Other districts he had worked for include Karns City School District, Grove City School District, Fall Mountain Regional School District in New Hampshire, St. Mary’s Area School District, Cumberland Valley School District and Chambersburg Area School District.
In addition to his work in the school districts, he was an instructor of school finance and administration for both Shippensburg and Widener universities.
Rick graduated from Karns City High School and went on to receive his B.A. from Grove City College and his M.B.A. from Plymouth State University.He was a member of the PA Association of School Business Officials and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg.
In his free time, he was a gentleman farmer and the owner/operator of Punkin Point Farm.He enjoyed music, hunting, traveling, loved his dogs and enjoyed living by his personal motto, “Don’t let anything steal your joy.”
In addition to his mother, Rick is survived by his wife, Kimberly B. (Bower) Vensel; his son, Andrew Richard Vensel of Middletown; his daughters, Abigail Ann and Rebekah Louise Vensel, both of Carlisle; his sister, Robin Nice and her husband, Dennis, of Lititz; and his mother-in-law, Lyn Bower of Carlisle.
VENSEL — Memorial services for Richard Ross Vensel Jr., who died Saturday, April 4, 2015, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesdayat the First United Methodist Church, 135 W.
