Virginia Lee Glass, 78, of Hilltop Drive died at 12:31 a.m. Monday at her home.

Born June 21, 1930, in Junction City, Kan., she was the daughter of the late Irvin Albert and Gladys Spittles Gfeller.

Mrs. Glass had been a school teacher at Center Township School, and she was a nurse at the Children's Rehabilitation Center in Saxonburg.

She enjoyed tennis and gardening. She loved animals, had a special affection for cats in need and was a volunteer for the Butler County Humane Society.

She lived life to the fullest, and she always made her family first and foremost in her life.

Mrs. Glass is survived by two daughters, Anita Nicholas Alexander and Patricia Nicholas Diehl; four grandchildren, Perry Alexander, Nicholas Alexander; Lisa Diehl McMaster and Christine Diehl Creely; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Gfeller; a sister, Marge Boyer; a niece, Valle Jean Double; and several other nieces and nephews.

Her first husband, John Morris Nicholas, died Aug. 18, 1969, and her second husband, Howard M. Glass, died Dec. 14, 1999.

<B>GLASS</B> — Friends of Virginia Lee Glass, who died Monday, July 21, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Brown, pastor of North Main Street Church of God, officiating. Interment will follow at the Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Butler County Humane Society, 1027 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053; or to the American Cancer Society, Memorials, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA15205.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
