Richard E. Schreffler
Richard E. Schreffler, 66, of Renfrew died Monday morning at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 30, 1938, in Butler, he was the son of late Mabel F. Schreffler; and after her death, he was adopted by his aunt and uncle Kenneth and Lenora Clauser Schreffler Sr.
He retired in 1994 as a sergeant first class in the Army after 20 years. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Mr. Schreffler also retired from Pullman Standard, had worked at Morgan's Diner and Reliable Furniture and was co-owner of Double D Restaurant in Evans City from 1992 to 1995.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Connoquenessing.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth P. Nicklas Jesteadt Schreffler, whom he married March 5, 1988; two daughters Tammy Lee and Tina Louise Schreffler, both of Butler; two brothers, Kenneth Schreffler Jr. and Kevin Schreffler, both of Butler; a sister and brother-in-law, Bernadette and Joseph Swierkowski of Renfrew; a stepson, Michael Jesteadt and his wife, Christine, of Prospect; and a stepdaughter and her husband, Timmi Sue and Scott Longdon of Butler.
He also is survived by six grandchildren, Heath Michael Schreffler, Blake Michael and Dylan Christopher Jesteadt and Adam Scott, Jacob Clay, and Rebecca "Reba" Claire Longdon.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Schreffler Jr.
<B>SCHREFFLER</B> - Friends of Richard E. Schreffler, who died Monday, March 14, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at A. CARL KINSEY-RONALD N. VOLZ FUNERAL HOME, 328 W. Main St., Evans City. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Connoquenessing, with the Rev. J. Gary Brown officiating.
