Army Pfc.

Joshua Wachter, son of John and Janet Wachter of Butler, is a student at the Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal School, where he will spend close to a year learning how to dispose of live ordnance. He is a 2005 graduate of Butler High School.———

<B>John Schwab Jr.</B> of Butler retired April 9 from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of service.His 20-year career included service at Recruit Training Command, San Diego; Combat Systems Technical Schools Command, Mare Island, Vallejo, Calif.; USS Carl Vinson CVN-70; Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity, San Diego; USS Fitzgerald (DDG-62); USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76); and the Center for Surface Combat Systems Unit, Dam Neck, Virginia Beach, Va.His mother, Karen, his father John, his sister, Holly, and his brother, Christopher attended the ceremony at the Chapel by the Sea, Dam Neck Naval Base, Virginia Beach.Army Spec. <B>Ryan Deemer, </B>a native of Valencia and a graduate of Mars High School, traveled to Fort Hood, Texas, with the 298th Support Maintenance Co. for pre-mobilization training before a yearlong deployment to Iraq.Deemer, an all-wheel mechanic, is the son of Kenneth and Becky Deemer of Valencia.
