Gregory P. Brown

Gregory P. Brown, 58, of 708 N. McKean St. died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon in the emergency department at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Butler, April 21, 1947, he was a son of the late Donald B. "Brownie" and Lela I. "Peaches" Gregory Brown.

A 1965 alumnus of Butler High School, he also graduated from Butler County Community College and the Banking School of the University of Wisconsin and Bucknell University.

In 1968 he began working for Mellon Bank and was the current vice president and district manager for Citizens Bank in the Pittsburgh north area that includes Allegheny, Butler, Mercer and Armstrong counties.

He was an Army veteran and served in Germany during the Vietnam War era.

Active in community service, he has been treasurer of the Butler Area Midget Football League for 25 years and formerly had been a coach in the league. He had served on the board of the Butler County Children's Center, the Butler County Special Olympics Committee, the Butler County Community Development Corporation Board of Directors, the Ford City Lions Club and the Butler Country Club.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Pelliccione Brown, whom he married Aug. 30, 1969, in Butler; two sons, Travis and Joshua Brown, both of Butler; two daughters, Holly Brown of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Lindsay Brown of Butler; and two grandchildren, Hanna and Andrew Brown. He also is survived by a brother, Donald E. Brown of Winston-Salem; a sister, Mrs. George (Judith) Presco of Butler; a special aunt, Mrs. Pauline Albert of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

BROWN - Friends of Gregory P. Brown, who died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at held Wednesday at the funeral home at a time to be announced.
