Butler Eagle employees recognized as finalists in Golden Quill Awards

Two Butler Eagle employees were recently recognized as finalists in The Press Club of Western Pennsylvania’s 58th Golden Quill Awards.

Seb Foltz, Eagle photographer, was a finalist in the category “Excellence in Journalistic Craft Achievement, Spot News Photo — Divisions 1-6” for his art and story “Friends, Family Pray for Firefighter With COVID.”

This photo, taken by Butler Eagle photographer Seb Foltz, was a finalist in the 58th Golden Quill awards. Pictured is Nicole Vickinovac (center) as family and friends comfort her during a prayer vigil on Saturday, February 26, 2022, for her husband Greg Vickinovac outside of Passavant Hospital in McCandless. Her husband, a Middlesex Township firefighter, was on a ventilator in the hospital's COVID ward.

Steve Ferris, Eagle staff writer, was a finalist in the category “Excellence in Written Journalism, News Feature - Division 2” for his story “Family Sues State Police Over Wrongful Death.”

Foltz was also recently awarded first place in the 2022 Keystone Media Award’s Sports Feature Photo category for his photo titled “Football Frenzy.”

The event marked the full return of fans to the stadium.
