FUNraiser set for Quality EMS
A “FUNraiser” event to gather donations for Quality EMS is planned from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Armco Credit Union’s Mars branch, at the intersection of Route 228 and Myoma Road.
Funds will specifically go toward the purchase of a new ambulance, Quality EMS executive director Conrad Pfeifer said.
“Ours have about 200,000 miles on them,” Pfeifer said. “It will replace an old ambulance.”
Kids’ entertainment, a magic show, balloon animals, food trucks and a basket raffle will be featured at the event. Participants will be able to compete for a chance to win up to $1,000 through a musical chairs competition.
Michele Jurysta, marketing manager at Armco Credit Union, said proceeds from a number of activities at the celebration will benefit the EMS service.
“We are celebrating the one-year anniversary of our Mars location, and we wanted to do something to positively impact the community,” Jurysta said. “I knew that Quality EMS had a lot of challenges in front of them, so we decided to partner with them.”
The food trucks available at the event will donate at least 10% of their proceeds to Quality EMS.
Because of supply chain difficulties, Pfeifer said, the process to acquire the new ambulance, which began in 2021, likely will take another year.
“We receive no tax money or municipal money,” he added “We serve six municipalities.”
A CPR certification course also is available at the event, though the registration deadline has passed. Technicians will also be on site to check child car seats for safe installation and offer ambulance tours from 1 to 6 p.m.
