Carl P. Launer
Carl P. “Ed” Launer, 81, of Marion Township, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at home after a recent illness.
Carl was born Oct. 30, 1939, in Johnsonburg, Elk County, Pa., to Margaret Fitch Launer and Frederick Launer.
He graduated from Zelienople High School in 1959, and excelled in football and basketball.Carl retired from Herman Corp. in Zelienople.He displayed strong patriotism, a good nature and dedication to his hometown of Zelienople throughout his life.He served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator.Carl was a life member of the American Legion Post 474 in Zelienople, serving as sergeant at arms and acting with the Legion Honor Guard. He also belonged to VFW Post 499 of Evans City, the Harmony Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 957, and the Hungarian Beneficial Society of Zelienople.Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Ronald and Frederick Launer; and his and sisters, Margaret McCamey and Ann House.Carl leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Carole Schlotter Launer; his son, Carl (Kim) Launer of Moon Township; his sister, Joan Launer; and his brothers, Jerry and Tom Launer.LAUNER — Friends of Carl P. “Ed” Launer, who died Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at Boylan-Glenn-Kildoo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 130 Wisconsin Ave. Cranberry Township, with the Rev. Robert Schlotter officiating.He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Township.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carl's honor to the American Legion Post 474 Honor Guard, 308 W.
