New sexual abuse allegations involving teenage boys were lodged Friday against an already embattled Butler physician.

The new charges allege Dr. David Evanko, 56, used his position as a doctor to assault two residents of Summit Academy, ages 15 and 17, who were supposed to be receiving medical treatment.

Already, Evanko is facing trial in regard to a now 29-year-old man who claims he was assaulted while a Boy Scout under Evanko's supervision.

Although the Boy Scout-related charges stem from events alleged to have happened in the mid-1990s, the new allegations allegedly occurred in 2008 and this year.

Both of the new alleged victims told investigators they were taken to the doctor for treatment of genital warts, but instead the doctor masturbated them.

The 15-year-old, a resident of Philadelphia, claimed he was assaulted by Evanko in April 2008 at the doctor's office on Medical Center Road in Donegal Township, according to court records.

The 17-year-old, identified as an Altoona resident, alleged he'd encountered the doctor at the academy for an unspecified number of occasions between Jan. 11 and March 19 this year, according to court records.

The doctor, according to court records, during this time was supposed to apply medicated cream to the boys.

In the new case Evanko is charged with two counts each of institutional sexual assault, indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor and corruption of minors and child endangerment.

The doctor was arraigned about 5 p.m. Friday by District Judge Lewis Stoughton at the state police barracks in Butler Township.

Evanko's defense attorney David DeFazio said after the arraignment that the defense looks forward to presenting Evanko's side of this story in court.

"The evidence will clearly show that Dr. Evanko did nothing wrong," Defazio said.

Evanko of Butler Township is free, having posted $50,000 bail in the first case. An unsecured $30,000 bail was set for the new charges.
