Paul Lewis “Buck” Smith Jr., a resident of Tate Township, Ohio, formerly of West Sunbury, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the age of 80.

He was born Feb. 2, 1942, in West Sunbury, where he grew up on the family farm. He was the son of Paul L. Smith Sr. and Sara (Sproull) Smith.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Elizabeth Grossman and Ronald Smith.

He was the husband of Judy Smith (Brown). They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary just last week.

He was the father of Jeffrey Paul (Denise) Smith, Jody Martina Davis (Smith) and Jason Lewis Smith; the grandfather of Victorya Smith, Jeffrey “Lucas” Smith and Dylan Smith; and the brother of Steve (Shelby) Smith and Robert (Loretta) Smith.

He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Harold Grossman.

Paul was a welder and pipe fitter by trade, working in multiple states including Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. The plants he worked at included Three Mile Island and Zimmer, eventually retiring after 20 years at GE. He was also a Master Mason, belonging to Bethel Lodge 61.

Paul enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family and friends.

SMITH — Visitation for Paul Lewis “Buck” Smith Jr., who died Tuesday, May 31, 2022, will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of New Richmond, Ohio.

Interment will be at Mount Moriah Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Matthew 25 Ministries.
