Beryle Fae McKissick
Beryle Fae Mershimer McKissick, 99, a 60-year resident of the Mount Jackson-Enon Valley area of Lawrence County, died at 4 a.m. Thursday at the Jameson Memorial Hospital in New Castle
Born Aug. 22, 1906, in Euclid, Clay Township, she was the daughter of C.D. and Annie Wigton Mershimer.
She had been a teacher at many school systems for more than 30 years and belonged to the National and Pennsylvania State Education associations.
Mrs. McKissick attended the Bethel Presbyterian Church of Enon Valley and was a member of the Sierra Club, the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a founding charter member of the Mount Jackson Woman's Club and was its second president. She also was a member and former president of the Bessemer Woman's Club and belonged to the National Wildlife Association and the North Beaver Garden Club.
She is survived by her children, Mrs. Ruth McKissick Mellet of North Beaver Township, Lawrence County, John W (Patricia) McKissick of Murrysville, Mrs. Margaret "Maggie" Weinzerl of New Castle, and Ted R. (Judi) McKissick of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; and grandchildren Molly, John Patrick, Phillip, Katie and Mary Heather; and great-grandchildren Dylan, Noah and Emma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence B. McKissick, whom she married Jan. 1, 1934; and by four siblings, C. Lee, Wayne, Ford and Ruth Mershimer.
