Dispatcher helps boy deliver his baby sister
A Butler County 911 dispatcher this morning talked a 13-year-old boy through the delivery of his sister.
Dispatcher Shawn Pistorious received a 911 call at 7:02 a.m. from a Butler woman saying she was in labor.
The woman explained to Pistorious the reason she was at home.
“She said she didn’t know she was pregnant,” he said in an interview.
Before Pistorious could talk her through the delivery, the phone line was disconnected.
When he called back, the woman’s 13-year-old son answered.
The boy then relayed Pistorious’ instructions to his mother.
“He did a really good job,” Pistorious said.
At 7:07 a.m., the boy told the dispatcher the baby was delivered.
Pistorious then instructed the family to rub the infant girl’s back so she would cry, confirming she was OK.
Butler Ambulance then arrived and took the woman to Butler Memorial Hospital at 7:21 a.m.
