Kenneth Ellwood Meals
Kenneth Ellwood Meals, 82, of Plain Grove Township, Volant, Pa., passed away at 11:10 p.m. Friday at his home.
Ken was born Sept. 6, 1935, in Brady Township to Kenneth Leroy “Roy” Meals and Dorothy Juanita May Walls Meals. He married Lois Kamerer on Nov. 11, 1960, and she preceded him in death June 6, 2012.
Ken enjoyed life. Spending time with his family was his favorite activity. Ken called for square dances for more than 50 years. He was very active in his church and loved to dance.
Ken and Lois enjoyed Western style dancing with the Paws and Taws. He retired from Cooper Bessemer in Grove City in 1998.
Ken was a U.S. Army veteran and a founding member of Hillcrest Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are three sons, Steven J. (Elaine) Meals of North Lima, Ohio, Alan K. (Shana) Meals of New Castle and Gary D. (Beth) Meals of Volant; two daughters, Cheryl L. (Mike) Yute of Mercer and Marie A. (Mark) Canon of West Middlesex, Pa.; two sisters, Lila (Norman) Book of Butler and Joann (Jesse) Hines of Slippery Rock; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
MEALS — Family of Kenneth Ellwood Meals, who died Friday, June 8, 2018, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, and from 1 p.m. until funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hillcrest Presbyterian Church, 5114 Perry Highway, Volant, with Pastor Steve Tipton presiding. Interment will be at North Plain Grove Cemetery, Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County.
