Mangold Sr.

James A. Mangold Sr., 79, of Clarendon, Hearts Content, formerly of Zelienople, died Saturday at UPMC.

Born April 26, 1931, in Bellevue, he was the son of the late Francis L. and Mary Briggs Mangold.

Mr. Mangold retired from Mine Safety Appliance in 1992 after 35 years.

He built his own home in Hearts Content with a little help from family and friends.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Mr. Mangold was a member of the Farnsworth Trout Club and the Sheffield Rod and Gun Club. He loved all animals and diligently fed the birds each morning.

Mr. Mangold was a former volunteer umpire, coach and manager for the Harmony-Zelienople Athletic Association. He was an avid Steelers fan, was a fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams, a NASCAR fan and followed the sporting teams at the Seneca Valley School District.

He is survived by his wife, LulaMae “Lu” Neuner Mangold, who he married April 25, 1951; a daughter, Nancy Mary Miller (Frank Jr.) of Hatteras, N.C.; three sons, Francis Albert “Frank” Mangold (Rhonda) of Hershey, Douglas Paul “Doug” Mangold (Joan) of New Port, N.C., and James Arthur “Jim” Mangold Jr. (Alberta) of Evans City; a sister, Mary Margaret “Margie” Littell of Bellevue; and six grandchildren, Emmilou, Frank III and Rheanna Miller, Lindsey and Connor Mangold and Ashlei Wilson.

<B>MANGOLD</B> — Private services for James A. Mangold Sr., who died Saturday, March 12, 2011, will be held in Hearts Content.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Warren County Humane Society, 217 Elm St., Warren, PA 16365.Arrangements have been entrusted to <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, Zelienople.
