Wind cuts power in county
High winds downed electric lines throughout Butler County during the weekend.
By this morning, crews of Central Electric Cooperative had restored power to about 2,000 members who had outages in Clintonville, Polk, Utica, Lisbon, Emlenton, Harrisville, Eau Claire and Boyers, said Lisa Hoover, company spokeswoman.
Also, about 755 West Penn Power customers in the county lost electricity and had it restored during the weekend.
Beginning at 4 a.m. Saturday, winds gusting as high as 60 mph knocked down trees, contributing to the outages.
Pennsylvania Electric customers also lost power during the weekend. As of 8:30 a.m. today, Penelec’s outage website reported that fewer than 500 customers in Mars remained without power, which was expected to be restored by noon today.
