Multiple fire departments responded to a barn fire early Wednesday morning in Muddy Creek Township.

Butler County 911 dispatched the crews around 3:20 a.m. to 166 Flinner Road.

“Engine 13 (Prospect-Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department) arrived on scene to find an approximate 50-foot by 100-foot barn fully involved endangering a nearby barn with equipment and the two-story home,” said the department in a social media statement Wednesday.

Firefighters said its department and others dispatched deployed hose lines and doused the area around the emblazoned barn.

“Units operated on scene for three hours and contained the fire to the barn with little damage to the endangered buildings,” the post said.

The scene was cleared at 8:30 a.m., but the fire rekindled later Wednesday morning, prompting crews to return to the scene.

Though Prospect firefighters were first on the scene, the Portersville-Muddy Creek Township department led the scene with additional assistance by Harmony and Slippery Rock departments, as well as multiple units from other counties.
