Richard A. "Dick" Shidemantle, 81, of 12790 Rundelltown Road, Conneautville, passed away Tuesday at his home.

He was born in Portersville, May 16, 1927, a son of the late Blaine and Susan Bauder Shidemantle.

He married Sarah Beighley, April 24, 1948, and she survives.

He was the owner/operator along with his family of the Meadville Livestock Auction.

He was a member of the Hickernell United Methodist Church, the American Quarter Horse Association, the Paint Horse Association and the Western Crawford Masonic Lodge 58.

He loved his family, was especially fond of the grandchildren and enjoyed the horses and other livestock as well.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah, of 61 years of Conneautville; children, Gary and his wife, Vicky, of Crossingville, Keith and his wife, Peggy, of Conneautville, Danny and his wife, Brenda, of Conneautville; and Roxann of Conneautville; grandchildren, Travis, Brian, Cody, Dillon, Brittany, Gary Lee Jr. and Lindsey; and sisters, Grace Cheeseman and Ruby McNicol, both of Portersville.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Samuel, Willis, Irvin, Claude "Mike," Raymond and Norm; and sisters, Gladis Shidemantle and Betty McHattie.

<B>SHIDEMANTLE </B>— Funeral services for Richard A. "Dick" Shidemantle, who died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, will be private with Pastor Robert Trask officiating.
