Wendell W. Porter

Wendell W. Porter, 90, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Mars, died Sunday afternoon at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater.

Born Oct. 18, 1925, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Robert and Elda Waugaman Porter.

Wendell had been a foreman for Raymond Concrete Pile Drivers in Pittsburgh. Following his retirement, he worked for 14 years at the Highland YMCA in Clearwater.

He was a member of the Hope Presbyterian Church in Clearwater and had been a member and trustee at the Valencia Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Helen V. Gilleland Porter, who he married April 9, 1948; two sons, Dennis Porter and his wife, Nancy, of Buckhannon, W.Va., and Jeffrey Porter and his wife, Wanda, of Austin, Texas; four granddaughters, Kristen, Lara, Heather and Wendy; two great-granddaughters, Avalyn and Greenly; two sisters, Elsie Cunningham of Bakerstown and Margaret Trautmann in Ohio; one sister-in-law, Betty Steiner of Clearwater, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Ora Perkins; and three brothers, Robert, Joseph and Rodney Porter.

PORTER — Friends of Wendell W. Porter, who died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev.
