Butler Twp.’s confidentiality agreement with PA Water Company extended
BUTLER TWP — Commissioners extended their confidentiality agreement Monday with Pennsylvania-American Water Company for 30 days, as the company continues to collect information of Butler Area Sewer Authority’s assets.
The township, which has two representatives on the BASA board, entered a 60-day confidentiality agreement in January. On Dec. 14, BASA’s board of directors approved an agreement that gave the water company 60 days to estimate the value of its sewer system and assets and submit it to the board for consideration of a potential sale.
The agreement was set to end June 30, but has been extended by 30 days.
The agreement gives the water company the exclusive right to assess the value of the system and assets and prohibits members of the BASA board, city council and township commissioners from disclosing the value determined.
Butler Township solicitor Rebecca Black said she recommended the commissioners extend the agreement.
