James J. McElhaney

James J. McElhaney, 50, of Butler passed away Wednesday at Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born on April 28, 1964, in Pittsburgh, the son of Barbara “Bonnie” (Gangone) Lukasik of The Villages, Fla., and the late James Guy McElhaney Jr.

Jim was a 1982 Butler High School graduate, where he lettered in track, football and swimming. He was a 1986 Grove City College graduate, where he participated in football and track and field.

He was employed as a purchasing agent at Marmon/Keystone.

Jim was a member of the Italian Club. He also had served on the board of directors of the YMCA where he had been a swim coach. He had coached Midget Football for Center Township and Butler High Girls track and field. Jim had been inducted in both Butler County's and Grove City College's Sports Hall of Fames. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and swimming. Jim found great joy in spending time with his family and cheering on his daughters in their swimming endeavors.

Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline (Forcht) McElhaney of Butler, who he married on July 18, 1987; his two daughters, Jordan and Jillian McElhaney, both at home; his brother, Sean and his wife, Marci, and their sons, Mason and Brady McElhaney of Crofton, Md., and his mother and her husband, Bonnie “Mrs. Mac” (Gangone) and Joseph Lukasik of The Villages, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Guy McElhaney Jr., who died on July 9, 2003.

McElhaney— The friends of James J. McElhaney, who passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of the blessing service at 10 a.m. Saturday with Father Murphy officiating.
