Edith Ruth Sherman
Edith Ruth Sherman, 88, formerly of Assisted Living at Newhaven Court in Butler, passed away at 5:13 p.m. Friday at the Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia, Cabot.
She was born May 23, 1924, in Prospect, to the late Merle McKinnis and Helen (Barnhart) McKinnis.
Mrs. Sherman was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and enjoyed bowling, traveling and her grandchildren.
Mrs. Sherman is survived by two daughters, Karen Anthony and her husband, Donald, of Butler and Leslie Stewart and her husband, Ronald, of Chicora; three grandchildren, Careen Gibson and her husband, Joseph of Chicora, Donald Anthony of West Newton, Pa., and Jennifer Rose and her husband, Michael, of Jerome, Pa.; four great-grandchildren; and five sisters, June Reed of Butler, Faye King of Butler, Edna Mae Knauer of Butler, Bonnie Bolton of Butler and Sandra Henricks of Slippery Rock, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond K. Sherman, who she married, March 30, 1948, and who passed away Aug. 27, 1988; one brother, Howard Pete McKinnis; and two sisters, Ruby Brown and Betty Allison.
SHERMAN — Friends of Edith Ruth Sherman, who passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev.
