Albert H. Ithen
Albert H. Ithen, 97, of Orchard Manor, Grove City, died at 2:47 p.m. Sunday
He was born Sept. 24, 1913, in Philadelphia to Albert and Catherine Mang Ithen.
He married Thelma M. Adrian on April 25, 1933. She passed away Jan. 19, 1999.
He retired in 1975 from the Ralston Purina Corp., where he was a sales manager for 30 years. He also was a former real estate agent with Barnes Real Estate and Matthews Real Estate, both in Grove City.
He was a 50-year member of Grace United Methodist Church in Grove City.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in Saipan and Guadalcanal.
He was a member of Grove City Country Club for more than 55 years, the American Legion Post Harrisville, a lifetime member of the Doylestown F&AM Lodge 245, the New Castle Consistory and the Zem Zem Shrine, Erie.
Mr. Ithen formerly was in the antique business with his wife in the Grove City area in the 1970s, then later in the Harrisville and Leesburg areas. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed golfing.
He is survived by three children, Albert C. Ithen of Grove City, Barbara J. Barnes of Butler, and Geoffrey A. Ithen and his wife, Wendy Fisher, of Maplewood, N.J.; nine grandchildren, Tracy L. Miller and her husband, Doug, of Transfer, Christopher R. Ithen and his wife, Joanna, L. of Grove City, Albert J. Ithen and his wife, Jodi, of Parker; Pamela Barnes of Richmond, Va., Candee L. Barnes of Butler, B. Timothy Barnes of Butler, Joyce Ann Barnes of Butler, and Emilia Jane Fisher Ithen and Rachel Kate Fisher Ithen, both of Maplewood, N.J.; 12 great-grandchildren, Alec Miller, Robbie Miller, Gabriel Ithen, Janoah Sky Ithen, Hannah Ithen, Noah Ithen, Jessica Vinroe, Spencer Vinroe, Morgan Barnes, Carley Barnes, Joseph Cook and Jennifer Taylor; one great-great grandson; and one brother, Joseph Ithen of Broomall.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Margaret VanHee; one granddaughter, Terri Cook; one son-in-law, Larry L. Barnes; and one daughter- in-law, Jean A. Ithen.
