Nancy Jane Bryan

Nancy Jane Bryan 87, of Prospect died Thursday at her home.

Born in Butler, Aug. 19, 1918, she was the daughter of Norman May and Hazel Emerick.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Prospect. She also was a member of the former 20th Century Club of Prospect, past president of the Prospect Women's Community Club and belonged to the Butler Chapter of the D.A.R.

Mrs. Bryan, a graduate of Butler High School and The Butler Business School, was a homemaker and had been the bookkeeper for the former Bryan Brothers' Store in Prospect. She also was a volunteer in the office at Camp Lutherlyn in Prospect for years and was an avid supporter of its horseback program.

She was an avid horse lover, animal lover, gardener and cook. She loved to read and was on the committee that established Prospect Community Library. She also was on the committee to build the tennis courts in Prospect.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Becky Sue Carroll of Cranberry Township; two sons, Pete Bryan of Prospect and Patrick H. Bryan of Zelienople; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A brother, Richard May of Butler, also survives.

Her husband, Francis Dean "Pete" Bryan, whom she married Jan. 9, 1942, died in 1977. She also was preceded in death by her stepfather, Harvey Trader; a granddaughter, Deborah Bryan; a grandson, Shane Bryan; and a brother, John May.

BRYAN - There will be no public visitation. A memorial service for Nancy Jane Bryan, who died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Presbyterian Church of Prospect with the Rev. Dana Opp, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Portersville, officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Prospect.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Prospect Community Library, P.O.
