Bernice V. McElravy

Bernice V. McElravy, 95, formerly of East Brady Heights, East Brady, and of Karns City, died at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday at Sugar Creek Rest, near Worthington, after a long illness.

Born near Karns City, May 28, 1909, she was a daughter of John and Mary Anita Morgan McElravy.

She was a lifetime member and the oldest member of the Karns City Church of God of Prophecy.

Miss McElravy attended the Karns City School District and had worked at the American Bantam Car Works in Butler during World War II. She then was employed by a number of nursing homes, namely McGinley Nursing Home and the Clarion County Home. She also did private home care for the elderly for years.

Surviving are two brothers, Raymond "Buck" McElravy of Karns City and Lester "Jiggs" McElravy of East Brady; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Three brothers, Lincoln, Milford and Charles McElravy Sr.; and three sisters, Edith Mahood, Grace Hile and Betty Hile, preceded her in death.

McELRAVY - Friends of Bernice V. McElravy, who died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Karns City Church of God of Prophecy. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Harold Hutchison, retired church pastor, and the Rev. Vincent Irvin, pastor of Brush Valley Brethren Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery, Petrolia. Arrangements are being handled by RICHARD D. HILLIS FUNERAL HOME, Petrolia.Memorial contributions may be made to Karns City Church of God of Prophecy, Karns City, PA 16041.
