Harold R. Kennedy
Harold R. “Hattie” Kennedy, 76, of Evans City passed away peacefully on Thursday in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family while under the wonderful care of the VNA Hospice.
Born Dec. 9, 1934, in Callery, he was the son of the late Howard and Mildred (Dambach) Kennedy.
In 1997, Hattie retired from Mine Safety Appliances after 31 years of dedicated service.
He was a former member of the Evans City Volunteer Fire Department and was an avid Steelers fan. The highlight of his life was a surprise visit made to his home by Steelers defensive lineman, number 76, Chris Hoke.
In addition, he was extremely proud of his extensive movie and music collection.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ellen (Laney) Kennedy, who he married on June 24, 1960; four loving children, Roxanne Rapp and her husband, Karl, of Portersville, Jeffrey L. Kennedy of Evans City, Brian W. Kennedy and his wife, Lisa, of Evans City and Barbara J. Kennedy and her fiancé, Robert Vaughn Jr., of Connoquenessing; his special friend, Jeffery Waugaman of Harmony; six adoring grandchildren, Ashley Bodish, Lindsey Rapp, and Krystal, Ashley, Brian and Jacob Kennedy; and six precious great-grandchildren, Jerry Bodish Jr., Ronnie Bodish, Anthony Bodish, Raeann Cleaver, Nathan Cleaver and Matthew Kennedy.
<B>KENNEDY</B> — The family of Harold R. “Hattie” Kennedy, who died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011, will welcome friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the <B>Boylan Funeral Home</B>, 116 E. Main St., Evans City, where additional visitation will be held on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. with Bishop Kevin Popa officiating.
